Save weight, improve cooling efficiency with aluminum radiators for 1961-76 Impalas — New from Impala Bob’s
by Gary on August 24, 2012
Automakers increasingly use aluminum to save weight and improve efficiency — and those same principles can also be used in classic cars. Impala Bob’s has added a line of high-efficiency, two-core aluminum radiators for 1961-76 full-size Chevrolets that are 30 to 40 percent lighter than typical copper radiators.
Priced at $439.88, the radiators match the original appearance and factory mountings, and their satin finish can be painted black for an OEM look. For a custom look, radiators with a polished finish are priced at $539.88.
Our aluminum radiators use 1-inch tubes compared to the typical ½-inch tubes in a copper radiator. That creates more surface contact area from the tubes to the fins and helps dissipate the heat more quickly. A two-row aluminum radiator delivers the same heat transference and dissipation as a conventional four-row radiator.
Also critical to engine cooling are the fan and shroud. Impala Bob’s has an OEM-style four-blade fan priced at $51.99. A variety of steel and fiberglass fan shrouds are available for 1959-68 small-block and big-block V8 models, with prices ranging from $129.88 to $309.88.
Two new ways to see where you’ve been: LED turn signal mirrors and convex mirrors for 1955-57 Chevys
by Gary on August 10, 2012
Bob’s Classic Chevy has two new exterior mirrors for 1955-57 Chevrolets that look like original equipment, but incorporate modern technology and safety features:
The LED mirror features an LED arrow that blinks along with your turn signal. The mirror can work on either side of the car by simply rotating the mirror head. It gives your classic Chevy a custom look, and they help other drivers better see when you’re turning or changing lanes. Complete with wiring, hardware and template, the LED mirror is priced at $49.88 each.
The convex mirror is designed for the passenger’s side, providing the wider rear view that drivers are used to on contemporary cars, while maintaining a factory original look. It is priced at $39.88. A standard OEM-style exterior mirror for the driver’s side is priced at $35.88.
